Getting started

What does Amos do?

Ask about anything you’re studying and it builds a lesson: a short explanation, interactive visuals you can drag and play with, and practice questions that check you’ve got it. Add your lecture notes and lessons follow your course, using its notation and citing its pages.

How do I ask a good question?

Ask the way you’d ask a tutor: “why does the derivative of sin x equal cos x?” or “what’s the difference between a strong and weak acid?”. Say what you already know or what confused you, and the lesson will start from there. You can choose how deep to go before you ask.

Can I learn a whole course, not just one question?

Yes. Start a course from your lecture materials and ask to be taught all of it: the app plans the topics in order and builds lessons as you go, tracking which concepts you’ve mastered.

Your course material

What files can I add?

PDFs (lecture slides, notes, handouts), Markdown and text files, and photos or screenshots (PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF). Each file can be up to 15 MB.

Who can see my notes?

Only you. Your files are stored privately in your account and used only to make your lessons. See the privacy policy for details.

How do I remove a file or a course?

Open the course, then remove the file or delete the course. It’s deleted from our storage, not just hidden.

Usage and plans

What is the usage allowance?

Each lesson, follow-up and course plan uses some AI processing. Your plan gives you an allowance for each 5-hour window and each week; the meters in the account menu and in Settings show how much you’ve used. A window opens with your first request and resets 5 hours later. The weekly allowance resets every Monday at midnight UTC.

Which AI models write my lessons?

Mostly Anthropic’s Claude models. You pick one in the options next to where you ask, and it’s remembered for next time:

  • Étude uses Claude Sonnet 5.5 for what you’re waiting on. It writes clear, careful lessons quickly and suits almost everything, so it’s the default. Pages and lessons it prepares in the background while you read may be written by OpenAI’s GPT-6.1 Sol, which follows the same lesson plan.
  • Sonata uses Claude Opus 5.5, which reasons more carefully through hard proofs, tricky systems and long lectures. It’s slower and uses about 2½ times as much of your allowance per lesson.

Your pick doesn’t change how course plans are made. Small background jobs, like matching your question to a topic, run on Claude Haiku 5.5 and use very little. If one provider is unavailable, the other’s matching model steps in so your lessons keep working.

What happens when I run out?

New lessons pause until your allowance resets. Everything you’ve already made stays available to read and practise. If you need more, Pro and Max have larger allowances.

How do I upgrade, switch or cancel?

Upgrade from the pricing page. To switch plans, update your card, see invoices or cancel, go to Settings → Plan → Manage billing. If you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for, then move to Free with all your courses intact.

Can I get a refund?

We don’t refund partial periods, but if a charge looks wrong, sign in and use Send feedback in the app and we’ll sort it out. The terms have the details.

Your account

I forgot my password.

Use Reset your password. We’ll email you a link to choose a new one. If it doesn’t arrive in a few minutes, check your spam folder.

I didn't get the confirmation email.

Check spam and promotions folders first. Links expire after a while; if yours has, sign up again with the same email to get a new one.

Does my progress sync between devices?

Yes. Chats, courses and progress are saved to your account and appear on any device you sign in on.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Delete account and type your email to confirm. It cancels any subscription straight away and deletes your courses, files, chats and progress. It can’t be undone. The privacy policy says what’s kept.

Accuracy and honesty

Can lessons be wrong?

Yes, sometimes. Lessons are written by an AI model. Calculations in the visuals use tested formulas, but explanations can contain mistakes. If something doesn’t match your course, trust your course materials, and tell us with Send feedback so we can fix it.

Can I use it for assignments?

Use it to understand the material, then do the work yourself. Follow your school’s rules on AI tools.
